Before joining the Linacre Institute as Programmes Director in March 2022, Matthew worked for the Contextual Outreach Team at the University of Leeds, and was responsible for delivering sustained outreach programmes within Yorkshire and the Humber and ensuring fair access to Higher Education for some of the most disadvantaged students in the region. Prior to that, Matthew was awarded a Ph.D in French Studies from the University of Leeds in 2013 and subsequently worked as a Lecturer in French Literature and Film at the University. In addition to his work in Higher Education, he also has experience as a Subject Teacher of French within the Secondary Education sector.
